The Work We Do Most

Consumer unit upgrades are our bread and butter. If your property still has an old-style fuse box with rewirable fuses or no RCD protection, it's not meeting current standards and it's genuinely dangerous. We replace these with modern 18th Edition consumer units fitted with dual RCDs and MCBs. The job usually takes half a day, and you get a full Electrical Installation Certificate when it's done. Part P notification to building control is included.

Rewiring is the bigger job. A full rewire of a 3-bed house typically takes 5-7 days depending on access and the condition of existing cabling. We run new circuits, replace the consumer unit, fit new sockets and switches, and test everything before signing it off. If you're buying a property built before the 1980s, getting the electrics checked before you commit is worth every penny. Rewiring an occupied home is possible. We work room by room and keep disruption to a minimum.

EV charger installations have picked up a lot recently. We fit all major brands and can advise on whether your existing supply can handle the load or whether you need a main fuse upgrade first. Every install is NICEIC certified with Part P notification.

We also handle the everyday stuff like adding sockets in kitchens where there aren't enough, moving light switches, fitting outdoor lighting, and replacing smoke alarms. If the job involves your fixed wiring, it needs a qualified electrician. Don't let someone unqualified touch it.

Electrical Compliance for Landlords

Since June 2020, landlords in England must have a valid EICR (Electrical Installation Condition Report) for every rental property, renewed every 5 years or at each change of tenancy. If your report flags C1 or C2 issues, you've got 28 days to get the remedial work done. We carry out EICRs and any follow-up repairs in one process, so there's no need to book separate trades.

You're also required to provide a copy of the EICR to existing tenants within 28 days of the inspection, to new tenants before they move in, and to your local authority within 7 days if they request it. We send you the certificate digitally the same day, so you're covered.

For void properties, we combine the EICR with any upgrades needed: consumer unit replacements, smoke alarm installations, and carbon monoxide detectors in rooms with gas appliances. Getting it all done in one visit saves time and gets the property tenant-ready faster.

Common Questions

How much does a rewire cost?

It varies based on the size of the property, number of circuits, and how easy the cabling is to access. We quote after a site visit so we can give you an accurate fixed price. There are no hidden costs. What we quote is what you pay.

What's the difference between a C1, C2, and C3 on an EICR?

C1 means danger is present and needs immediate action. C2 means potentially dangerous and urgent work is needed. C3 is a recommendation for improvement but isn't a safety issue. For landlords, C1 and C2 faults must be fixed within 28 days.

Do I need an electrician to change a socket?

Swapping a socket for a like-for-like replacement is technically not notifiable work, but if you're in any doubt, get a qualified electrician to do it. Adding new sockets, moving existing ones, or any work in a kitchen or bathroom does require a qualified electrician and must comply with Part P of the Building Regulations.

Can my existing supply handle an EV charger?

Most homes with a 100A main fuse can handle a 7kW charger without issues. If you've got an older 60A or 80A supply, you may need a main fuse upgrade first, which we can arrange with your DNO. We'll check all of this during the survey before quoting.

Is all your work certified?

Yes. We're NICEIC approved contractors. Every job that falls under Part P of the Building Regulations is notified to building control through NICEIC, and you receive the appropriate certificate. That's an Electrical Installation Certificate for new work, or a Minor Works Certificate for smaller jobs.
